Why we exist
Shortening the journey to care
Too many children in our community reach a clinic late — after a family has travelled between several places looking for a doctor, a test and then a pharmacy. Each of those journeys costs time and money, and for a sick child, time matters.
Mercy Children's Hospital was built to shorten that journey. Consultation, laboratory and pharmacy sit in the same building, staffed by people who work with children every day.
Where a family genuinely cannot pay, theDellaCare Foundation steps in. No child is turned away for lack of money.

People who work with children every day
Paediatric care is a different discipline, not a smaller version of adult medicine. Doses, warning signs and the way a child describes pain are all different — and so is the way a family needs to be spoken to.
Our clinicians, laboratory staff and pharmacists all work to the same standard: assess carefully, explain clearly, and make the next step obvious for the parent or caregiver.

Not every family can reach us. With the DellaCare Foundation we run free medical missions — taking screening, treatment and medicines out to communities.
Hundreds of children are seen over a mission weekend, at no cost to their families.

Everything a child needs, in one building
Outpatient clinic, laboratory and pharmacy sit alongside inpatient beds and monitoring equipment, so a child can be assessed, tested, treated and dispensed for without leaving the site.
